This book makes a shocking revelation. It confirms that all those who suffer human rights abuses face the same fate that the assassinated journalist, Lasantha Wickramatunga, predicted for himself in addressing the President of Sri Lanka. "In the wake of my death I know you will make all the usual sanctimonious noises and call upon the police to hold a swift and thorough inquiry. But like all the inquiries you have ordered in the past, nothing will come of this one, too." AHRC-VID-021-2009 |

Stories of a people apart Accepted wisdom in India holds that caste only exists in 'backward' rural areas, but this film exposes caste discrimination across all sections of societies - within the urban middle classes, poor and prosperous villages, the communists in Kerala, other religious groups such as Sikhs, Christians and Muslims, and within some of India's most revered academic and professional institutions. In an age where the media projects only one image of a 'rising' or 'poised' India, this film reminds us how far the country is from being an equal society. Produced by DRISHTI Media, Arts & Human Rights | Duration: 108 minutes |

Compilation of video footages gathered from various Description: This video reveals the violence perpetuated by the armed forces stationed in the Indian state of Manipur against the ordinary people. A draconian law, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 provides impunity to the security forces to commit the acts of violence documented in this video. The law is still in force in Manipur. The Supreme Court of India has refused to declare the law unconstitutional, holding among other grounds, that the court was not aware of any misuse of the law. |
