INDONESIA: Video of the military torturing indigenous Papuans surfaced The video was recently recorded in the Tingginambut area in West Papua. The current whereabouts of the victims in this video are unknown. The AHRC understands that both incidents in the video involved members of the Indonesian military. The first incident shows uniformed members of the Indonesian army ill-treating indigenous Papuans. The second incident also reportedly involves members of the army committing grave abuses. PHILIPPINES/HONG KONG: Injured Filipino worker sought accident compensation On January 21, 2009, a twenty-year-old Filipino waiter, Tibio Melvin Delos Reyes who suffered second degree burns to his face and chest caught fire in a work related accident has now sought compensation for the injuries he has suffered. Compilation of video footages gathered from various Description: This video reveals the violence perpetuated by the armed forces stationed in the Indian state of Manipur against the ordinary people. A draconian law, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 provides impunity to the security forces to commit the acts of violence documented in this video. The law is still in force in Manipur. The Supreme Court of India has refused to declare the law unconstitutional, holding among other grounds, that the court was not aware of any misuse of the law. |

She was murdered eventually... The film is part of MASUM and AHRC's on going campaign against torture.
